AMZS keeps members safe on the road

25.05.20

Despite the current circumstances and challenges, the Automobile Association of Slovenia (AMZS) and its patrols continue to deliver 24/7 roadside assistance across the country, prioritising road safety for members and drivers.

The Covid-19 pandemic has stopped most of the AMZS’s activities and services, such as safe driving training and the practical part of the Slovenian Best Young Driver contest, but the Association’s efforts to keep members and drivers safe on the road have paid off.

With patrols ready to deliver 24/7 roadside assistance across the country, AMZS has prioritised the safety of its members, drivers and staff. The Association provided free roadside assistance to health workers and first responders during the pandemic. Free rides for staff in hospitals, health centres and nursing homes were also offered. The AMZS’ slogan of both initiatives was: “They take care of us and our health, we take care of their mobility!”

A key concern for the Association was ensuring the safety of the vulnerable and those in need of psychological support. “We are aware that spending days at home with limited contact with people, financial anxiety as well as worries about our own health and the health of our loved ones, can adversely affect our mental well-being”, says an AMZS’s spokeperson. “In order to help those in need of psychological professional help, our psychologist Julija Pelc was available for advice.”

Additionally, to keep the morale up and spread positive messages, AMZS improved the quality and layout of its communications materials, including the Association’s magazine Motorevija, sent out to all members. With the help of national athletes who recorded their training and workouts at home, AMZS also raised awareness on how important and crucial is during the pandemic to respect one simple rule: #StayAtHome.
