ACCHI signs a public-private commitment to promote electric mobility in Chile

The Minister for Energy, Susana Jimenez, and the Minister for the Environmment, Caroline Schmidt, together with the Under-Secretary of Transport, José Luis Domínguez, and the Executive Vice-President of CORFO, Sebastian Sichel, led a ceremony during which a new public-private agreement was signed with 38 companies and institutions, including the Automobile Club of Chile (ACCHI), in order to promote electric mobility in the country.

The initiative, which is entirely supported by ACCHI, aims to promote actions and projects contributing to spread the benefits offered by electric mobility, and to promote this change within the national transport plan.

The commitment focuses on specific areas to develop electric vehicles in Chile, and includes:

  • the availability of electric vehicles charging stations

  • stimulating the development of research projects in the field of electric mobility

  • the development of the human assets around electric mobility

  • the provision of information to the mobility platform of the country, and

  • the participation in requests for public-private cooperation around electric mobility.

During the activity that took place at the head office of the Energy Sustainability Agency, the new app “Ecocarga” was launched. This application (currently for Androïd) gives information on electric vehicle charging stations. It will soon be available for Iphone. The launch of the electric mobility platform, which is at the moment being developed with the support of Santa Maria University and will be available from April 2019, has also been announced.
