AAP joins the fight against COVID-19

The Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) is contributing to government efforts to help fight the Covid-19 crisis.

As of today, 2,000 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Philippines, with a death toll of 88. The Luzon lockdown will most likely be extended to April 30 at the least since the COVID-19 statistics are expected to spike this month as the supply of test kits increases.

Since the Luzon lockdown, the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) has implemented a 30-day work-from-home arrangement for all office-based employees. Meanwhile, its operations unit continues with a reduced workforce so as not to delay towing and rescue services along the major expressways in Luzon, which serve as primary transport routes for the supply of basic necessities.

To help and support the efforts of the government and the people to overcome COVID-19, the AAP has taken the following initiatives:

  • donating twenty percent (20%) of the proceeds from online renewals of AAP Membership and Philippine International Driving Permits (PIDP) to medical institutions.
  • providing free Emergency Roadside Service to the frontliners (doctors, nurses, caregivers, delivery men, quarantine law enforcers, garbage collectors, etc.) who continue to risk their lives every day.
  • creating social media accounts, emails and text blasts distributing useful information regarding the virus, local government updates like quarantine checkpoints, motoring and road safety tips, among others.

Through AAP Cares, employees are voluntarily giving basic necessities such as food, face masks, etc. to the frontliners and to individuals in need such as the homeless and informal settlers.

AAP believes that if we stand as one with our government and our people, we can conquer the COVID-19 pandemic.
