Paraguay Signs UAOA Charter

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the governing body for world motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations globally, has welcomed The Government of Paraguay to its growing United Against Online Abuse coalition.

During the opening ceremony of the American Congress in Asunción, Paraguay, FIA President and UAOA Founder, Mohammed Ben Sulayem and Paraguay’s Minister Executive Secretary of the National Secretariat of Sports, Mr. César Ramírez signed the United Against Online Abuse (UAOA) Charter indicating their commitment and dedication to the campaign and its mission.

Paraguay is the eleventh nation to join the coalition of governments, sports bodies and tech giants who are working in close partnership with the UAOA Campaign to confront the rise of online hate and its damaging impact on mental health, participation in the sporting world, and the integrity of sport.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, UAOA Founder and FIA President, said:

"With Paraguay’s support, our global coalition grows stronger and more united than ever. The FIA is proud to lead this united effort, bringing together governments, sports organisations, and industry partners to confront online abuse head-on.

“Sport has the power to inspire, connect, and empower, and it is our shared responsibility to ensure that this space remains safe and inclusive. We are sending a clear message that abuse has no place in sport, and by working together we can protect our global community."

Mr. César Ramírez, Minister Executive Secretary of the National Secretariat of Sports of Paraguay, said:

“Paraguay fully supports the important work that the FIA’s United Against Online Abuse campaign is doing against the growing crisis of online abuse in the sporting world. We are proud to be part of such a global movement that wants to ensure sport is a positive, inclusive and empowering experience.”

The FIA’s UAOA campaign is a research-led coalition supported by the FIA Foundation. Founded in 2023, the campaign has witnessed rapid growth in recent months and was recently awarded Peace and Sport’s prestigious Coalition for Peace award in recognition of its world-leading efforts building a formidable campaign driving meaningful change.
