Now in its second year, the FIA Innovation Challenge is an annual challenge promoting and celebrating innovative and scalable business and services projects from across the FIA Member Clubs’ network in the four global FIA Mobility Regions (Asia Pacific / Europe, Middle East and Africa / North America / South and Central America). With 43 entries, Clubs from across the world have continued to show leadership and innovation in supporting individuals and businesses with solutions for safer, more sustainable, and more affordable mobility for everyone.
Among the projects, Clubs have introduced innovative approaches to public road-safety education through e-learning platforms and initiatives that allow young people to experience being traffic wardens for a day. AI and digital tools are also being used to enhance vehicle inspections and roadside assistance. Meanwhile, new mobility solutions are reaching communities beyond urban areas, from sustainable tourism initiatives to programmes delivering cancer care to Indigenous Peoples.
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said, “This year’s Innovation Challenge has once again showcased the extraordinary creativity, dedication, and real-world impact of our Members and I have been proud to celebrate their achievements over the course of the year.
Congratulations to our winning Presidents and their Member Clubs. Our four winners have shown the very best of mobility innovation within their regions and my sincere thanks to all Members who have been involved in the Challenge.”

Driving Security Standards Forward with the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ, member of AAA, Australia – FIA Region II Asia Pacific)
To address the challenge of vehicle theft across Australia, FIA Region II Innovation Challenge 2025 Winner the RACQ has developed a new Vehicle Security Standard (VSS) with experts from Queensland Police Service and Griffith University. The VSS aims to set performance-based standards to guide manufacturers towards stronger, consumer-focused security features, helping drivers make safer choices and making vehicles harder to steal, easier to recover and safer for everyone on the road.
Dr Michael Kane, Head of Public Policy at RACQ said, “When someone has a vehicle stolen, they are not just losing their property, they lose their mobility, their way of life and their feeling of safety.
“Stolen cars may also be used to commit dangerous crimes such as high-speed joy riding and burglary, causing greater harm to communities.
“Thanks to the efforts of RACQ colleagues and the insight and expertise from the Queensland Police Service and Griffith University, we are proud to deliver the VSS, which not only aims to make vehicles harder to steal, but also protects road users and their peace of mind.”
