FIA Region II Roundtable Caps Off with Success in Bali, Indonesia

Day 1 – Fostering Collaboration

In Bali, Indonesia, FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem and FIA Region II President Greig Craft welcomed Delegates from all over Asia-Pacific for the first day of the 2023 FIA Region II Roundtable and thanked Ikatan Motor Indonesia (IMI) and its Chairman Bambang Soesatyo for hosting the event. Day 1 of the Roundtabl also hosted the FIA Region II Plenary, that enabled Members to review achievements and discuss future projects for the Region, and was marked by a presentation of the many activities of the host Club IMI in both Motor Sport and Mobility. 

Entitled “Partnership for Impact”, the programme of the Roundtable then focused on fostering collaboration between FIA Region II Members. FIA Deputy President for Automobile Mobility and Tourism Tim Shearman and FIA Senate President Carmelo Sanz de Barros took the floor to discuss how to develop regional road safety partnerships with global partners and increase regional empowerment. 

Delegates heard about the FIA-led One Road Programme by FIA Secretary General for Automobile Mobility and Tourism Jacob Bangsgaard, case studies on working in multi-stakeholder partnerships with the FIA Foundation and actions led by iRAP. They also continued the FIA Region II Ideas Forum’s discussions on collaborative business-generating ideas.

Road safety also took centre stage with FIA Region II Members sharing success stories on how to make roads safer in Asia-Pacific, and hearing about the Region’s initiatives and collaboration projects.

Day 2 – Experience-Sharing in the Spotlight

Day 2 of the Roundtable put the emphasis on experience sharing — a key strength brought about by the FIA network. 

Committed to taking action to shape the future of sustainable mobility in Asia-Pacific, FIA Region II Members presented environmental impact projects that are driving change. Read more here.

Road safety remained on top of the agenda with another session dedicated to Clubs’ initiatives to make roads safer for all. Delegates also heard about FIA Foundation’s programmes in the region, and global partnership opportunities. Learn more about the road safety focus of the Roundtable here.

The Roundtable then successfully concluded with FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem and FIA Region II President Greig Craft thanking the 70 Delegates coming from 14 Clubs from all over Asia-Pacific who made the event hosted by Ikatan Motor Indonesia a success.

To complete the week of gathering, other meetings were organised following the Roundtable including the first FIA Region II Club Correspondents' Meeting, a workshop on international travel documents and a two-day Delft Road Safety Course.
