In late January 2017, TACI implemented the initiative which aims both to inform Iranian children of the roadside dangers they face while they are walking to school, and to adequately train road safety educators.

More specifically, one of the primary objectives of the programme is to provide training sessions and workshops, bringing adequate road safety awareness and behaviour to different demographics and in particular the most vulnerable road users, and giving educators the tools they need to pass on road safety rules. The project is implemented in cooperation with the Iranian Ministry of Education & Training, Traffic Police, and the Municipality of Gharchak (Tehran Province).

A workshop for trainers and students

During these sessions, age-specific teaching methods were used to educate children from the first, second and third grades of primary school on the dangers of road traffic, while trainers of The Traffic Police of Iran (NAJA) attended the sessions to teach best practices to the trainers.

The students took part in theoretical and practical traffic training while popular TV host Khale Shadoone took care of the entertainment for all. At the end of the session all trainees received a Certificate of Attendance.
