2019 ETRC Race of Nurburgring - Race 1 & 2

Jochen Hahn and Adam Lacko thrilled a huge Nurburgring crowd on Saturday as they took a victory apiece after two sensational action-packed races.

Action throughout the pair of 13-lap races wowed the spectators lining the legendary German track as a bumper grid of 25 FIA ETRC trucks did battle.

Hahn further extend his points advantage by converting pole position to his seventh win of the 2019 season, while Adam Lacko battled through from third on the grid in race two to take his first win the campaign.

For Lacko, it also ended an 11-month win drought, as he took the chequered flag to the delight of the Czech aces Buggyra Racing squad.

Race 1

Jochen Hahn continued his perfect score in first races of FIA ETRC weekends in 2019 with a well-judged victory at Nürburgring this afternoon.

The Hahn Racing IVECO ace controlled the 13-lap encounter despite the close advances of Antonio Albacete to extend his points advantage in the 2019 title chase.

Hahn led from pole in to the first corner and was never headed, and even though Albacete tried his best to get on terms with his great rival he was 0.6s in arrears at the end of the race.

Albacete proved he had the pace to live with Hahn and set the fastest lap of the race in his Trucksport Lutz Bernau MAN challenger.

Taking third was Norbert Kiss in his Tankpool24 Racing Mercedes-Benz making it three different manufacturers on the podium.

Kiss had a healthy gap over Sascha Lenz’s SL Trucksport30 entry which took fourth place ahead of series returnee Gerd Korber in fifth, Adam Lacko in sixth and Jose Rodrigues in seventh place.

Race 2

Adam Lacko swept to his first FIA European Truck Racing Championship of the 2019 season in race two at the Nürburgring today.

The 2017 champion put behind him a troubled start to the season by taking his Buggyra Racing Freightliner to a fine victory after he surged from third on the grid and in to the lead on the first lap.

Lacko mastered a fraught first few corners which saw pole-sitter Anthony Janiec drop back and Jose Rodrigues take to the grass in attempt to snatch the lead.

But it was Lacko who emerged in front and the Czech was able to control a gap to second placed Jose Rodrigues for most of the 13-lap encounter which saw more thrilling action throughout the bumper 25 truck field.

But Rodrigues saw his dreams of a runners-up place dashed as first Sascha Lenz and then Jochen Hahn manged to find a way through to claim second and third positions in the final few laps.

Lenz’s second place came via a brilliant move on Rodrigues as he hung around the outside of turn one before claiming the inside in to the following left hander. The move involved contact between the pair but the incident was not placed under investigation.
