It is with great sadness that the FIA has learned of the passing of Belgian co-driver Jurgen Damen, as a result of injuries sustained in an incident at the Qatar round of the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup.

The FIA wishes to extend its most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr Damen, as well as team mates, fellow competitors, officials and event organisers. The thoughts of the broader motor sport family are firmly with them all in this deeply distressing time.

An investigation into the incident, which occurred 10 kilometres before the end of the event’s first Special Stage, is taking place in conjunction with all relevant authorities and officials.
