Formula E South America

The fully-electric single-seater car was on display for assembled media at the ACU headquarters in Montevideo ahead of the race on December 19.

Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E, said: “Following the success of the opening two races of the season we are looking forward to arriving in Punta del Este, a beautiful and picturesque location to host a Formula E race on the beaches of South America. The circuit is one of the quickest on the calendar and the fans in Uruguay are incredibly passionate and knowledgeable. We are thankful for the continued support and co-operation of the ACU and the local authorities on helping us put on such a fantastic event.”

Jorge Tomasi, Chairman of the Automobile Club of Uruguay, said: “From the presidency of Jean Todt at the forefront of the FIA, one of the areas that has been most developed is the synergy between two of the areas that the governing body has; sport and mobility. In this regard, Formula E fulfils perfectly this role through a series that promotes both sustainability and the environment.”

Punta del Este plays host to round three of the FIA Formula E Championship and is the first stop on the South American leg of the series with the Buenos Aires ePrix on February 6 2016.
