New Zealander Hayden Paddon has taken the lead of Rally Argentina after Jari-Matti Latvala rolled in the penultimate stage of the day. The Hyundai i20 WRC driver now has three stages and 55.28 competitive kilometres between himself and his first victory in the FIA World Rally Championship, although Sunday’s stages are the roughest and trickiest of the entire rally. Running at the front of the field again, Sébastien Ogier has lost time sweeping the roads and is 29.8 seconds adrift, and team-mate Andreas Mikkelsen has now climbed to third, closing the gap to Ogier during the day to 14.5 seconds.

Jari-Matti Latvala may continue to lead Rally Argentina but Hayden Paddon has been flying, the Kiwi driver racking up victories in two of the morning’s three stages. At the mid-leg service the gap between the two was 13.3 seconds, Latvala clawing back some time in the third stage. Today was always going to be the day where road position was most marked and Sebastien Ogier, again running at the head of the field, has haemorrhaged time to Latvala and Paddon but continues to hold third.

Jari-Matti Latvala, winner of the previous FIA World Rally Championship round in Mexico, has taken control of the Rally Argentina leaderboard and heads the field by 7.9 seconds after the first full day of competition. Behind the Finn, Hayden Paddon and reigning World Champion Sébastien Ogier have been dicing for position, the Kiwi Hyundai driver losing out in the final stage by just 3.5 seconds to take third behind Ogier.

Jari-Matti Latvala heads the field of Rally Argentina after the opening loop of stages in the first full day of competition in South America. The Finn took the advantage after the third stage today, capitalising on his road position, and heads Hayden Paddon by 5.4 seconds after nearly 80 competitive kilometres. Sébastien Ogier, running at the front of the field, is third.

Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle claimed their first WRC victory today at Rally Argentina, the DS 3 WRC crew heading a Citroën one-two for the first time since Rally Finland in 2012. The duo led the event for all but one stage and survived one of the most gruelling and dramatic rallies in recent memory with a virtually trouble-free run. Team-mates Mads Østberg and Jonas Andersson finished just 18.1 seconds adrift and M-Sport’s Elfyn Evans and Daniel Barritt took their first podium in the Fiesta RS WRC.

DS 3 WRC team-mates Kris Meeke and Mads Østberg have maintained their one-two positions for Citroën after another tricky day of competition over the rough and rocky gravel roads of Rally Argentina. Meeke lost some of his advantage this morning but clawed back time this afternoon to sit 38.6 seconds ahead of Østberg with just two stages remaining tomorrow. Jari-Matti Latvala has also held station in third, the Finn’s position safer following the retirement of Dani Sordo in the final stage.
