Eight of the nine events are carried over from the 2021 season, with the Rallye du Chablais in Switzerland becoming a new addition to calendar, replacing the Rallye International du Valais.

The season begins in Spain with the Rally Costa Brava moving back to its regular slot in March after it became the season finale in November 2021 due to the Covid 19 pandemic.  Round 2 will be held in the Czech Republic with the Historic Vltava Rallye in May.  

A month later at the beginning of June the Rallye Du Chablais VHC will be held in Switzerland, and this will be followed three weeks later by the Mecsek Rally in Hungary.

Rally Weiz in Austria takes place in July and is followed in August by the only gravel event on the calendar, the Lahti Historic Rally in Finland.

At the start of September, the FIA EHRC returns to Spain for the Rallye de Asturias Historico, which is Round 7 on the schedule.  The final two rounds are in Italy, with the Rally Elba Storico on 22-24 September and the Sanremo Rally Storico in October.

Highlights of the Changes to 2022 Sporting Regulations

The following changes to the FIA EHRC Sporting Regulations have also been approved by the FIA World Motorsport Council –

• The possibility to register in the EHRC and score Drivers and Co Drivers points up to the closing date of the last rally.
• Priority will be given for EHRC entrants in the start order on day 1 of each rally.
• The number of results to count for the title is 6 rallies, up from 5 in 2021.
• In order to score championship points, the driver of the car on the event must always be registered in the Championship.

• Possibility given to the Stewards to decide of additional penalties for traffic infringement 
• More promotion for EHRC Drivers and Co Drivers through the FIA website and social media.

John Naylor, President of the FIA Historic Motor Sport Commission, said: “The 2022 FIA European Historic Rally Championship calendar offers the competitors nine of the best historic events available anywhere in Europe.  Eight of the events are well known to the championship, and each offer a high level of organisation and challenge for the competitors.  The addition of the Rallye de Chablais to the championship calendar is also very welcome.  This is a rally with a great reputation and will offer the drivers some challenging conditions on the roads in the Swiss Alps.
