The no204 Opel Kadett of Vojtech Stajf and Vladimir Zelinka is the overnight EHRC leader after completing seven special stages on the second leg of the Rallye International du Valais in Switzerland.

The Czech crew set the fastest time on four of the seven stages, with the no205 Ford Escort RS1600, driven by Marty McCormack and James Potter, taking the fastest time on the other three.

The Opel was just 4.7 seconds ahead of the Flexifly run Ford Escort, with the no203 Ford Escort RS1800 of Ernie and Karen Graham a distant third 4m07.1 behind the lead car after taking a wrong turn earlier in the day.

The no206 Ford Escort of Richard and Lucie Ronay became the first EHRC casualty on the opening stage when a technical issue side-lined the Escort.

The final leg tomorrow will feature seven more stages in the Swiss mountains.
