Portuguese time wins the second edition of the Oeiras Eco Rally Portugal

Integrated in the official FIA’s calendar, the second edition of the Portugal Eco Rally, was marked by an undeniable success, having matched the 4th stage of the 2019 edition of the FIA Electric and New Energy Championship that will have a total of 14 competitions within 12 countries.

The Oeiras Eco Rally Portugal is a competition organized in partnership with Classic Club of Portugal and the Federação Portuguesa de Automobilismo e Karting (FPAK), and sponsored by Oeiras City.

It is entirely devoted to normal road production vehicles with an electric drivetrain or other alternative energy such as Battery electric vehicles – B.E.V. and Fuel cells electric vehicles – F.C.E.V running in regularity events which have valid registration documents for public road use, without any kind of modification to the car thus allowing competitors to use their vehicles intended for daily use. Prototypes are also allowed if they are for daily use and homologated for road circulation within the EU. 

Nearly 30 times of driver/codriver participated in the portuguese cup for three days. Guided by the so-called "clean energy", the Oeiras Eco Rally was open to official teams/professionals and non-professionals teams that drive touring cars, purely electric. With the particularity of having to comply with all the rules laid down in the Road Traffic Code and travelling in roads of everyday drivers, the Portuguese cup was followed by the public throughout the total of 410 kilometers specially over the 153 kilometers of special stages, that make up the various classifications.

Nuno Serrano and Alexandre Berardo, in Renault Zoe, are the big winners of the portuguese competition, “Oeiras Eco Rally”, fourth stage for the FIA Electric and New Energy Championship

The second and third place were achieved by the duo Artur Prusak/Thierry, in Renault Zoe, Benchetrit and Walter Kofler/Gaioni, in Audi e-tron, respectively

The Super special "Marginal of Oeiras Power Stage" has exceeded all expectations, combining the beauty of the route to a hard-fought contest for the first places and was attended by the Mayor of Oeiras, Isaltino Morais, who started the match.

Highlight also goes to the Portuguese António Ramos/Ivo Tavares, portuguese champions in regularity, that won the Consumption Index Test, driving a Hyundai Ionic. In this competition was second, also in Ionic, the Spanish duo Hyundai Javier Molto/Askindo Alionso, while third place was achieved by the French Alexandre Stricher/Ugo Missana, driving a BMW i3.

Renault win's the Constructor's prize of the portuguese round.

With the result on the portuguese cup, and after the completion of the 4th round of the FIA Electric and New Energy Championship, the duo Artur Prusak/Thierry Benchetrit back to lead the FIA Electric and New Energy Championship.

Highlight to the growing interest that the portuguese cup is generating, as can be seen from the increase in the number of registered foreigners in relation to the 2018 edition. With this victory and the excellent performances of the Portuguese teams, the Organization of the race expect to give a strong contribution to the development of sport in Portugal.

The next stage will take place from 28 to 30 June, in France.
