The World Motor Sport Council approved the proposals submitted to amend, with immediate effect, various articles of Appendix K.

Article 2.1.3 of Appendix XI to Appendix K now includes a detailed technical description of the restrictors, and the devices allowing them to be sealed, to be installed in supercharged rally cars of Period J2.

Appendix VII to Appendix K has been updated to include various clarifications concerning NSUs, the Ford GT40, the De Tomaso Pantera, and Ford 289 V8 engines. For NSUs, (Homologations No. 1448, 1501 and 5226), it is now specified that the constant mesh gearbox ratio is 41/20, this information having been omitted from the homologation forms issued during the period. For the Ford GT40 and the De Tomaso Pantera, the RBT-ZF 5DS25-2 gearbox may be used as a replacement part for the original gearboxes. It was also decided that the aluminium bell-housing in any car fitted with a Ford 289 V8 engine and the correct homologated gearbox may be replaced with a steel bell-housing.

For Lancia Stratos which are in conformity with Homologation No. 640 and whose owners wish to preserve the rollcage of the period, the instructions for building and installing door bars have been defined. Staying on the topic of safety, Article 5.5.3 of Appendix K has been amended to make FIA safety fuel tanks (in conformity with the provisions of Article 253-14 of Appendix J) mandatory as of 1 January 2016, and strongly recommended with immediate effect, in rally cars that have their fuel tank(s) positioned inside the cockpit, such as the Renault 5 Turbo for example.

Other clarifications of Appendix K to come into immediate effect (e.g. seats for Group N, windows for Production Road Cars, and alternative components for Period J1 and J2 cars), were also approved and may be consulted in the update to Appendix K available on fia.com (click here).

Finally, it was decided to amend, as of 2016, Article 16 of Appendix X to Appendix K, which concerns aerodynamic aids and, more specifically, the skirts with which Formula One cars from 1981 and 1982 are fitted. A provision will be added to the regulations of the Historic Formula One Championship stating that a maximum of one set of skirts may be used per competition.
