From October 17-19, the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia returns to Shanghai, China for the final two races of the 2014 season.

Rounds 11&12 will be held at Shanghai International Circuit, where 28 identical Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racing cars will vie for the top spot on the overall and Class B podiums.

Contention for the top of the overall championship podium sees the 24-year-old New Zealander Earl Bamber out front with 158 points as he looks to cap off an incredible 2014 series.

Still in the running and not to be underestimated is Martin Ragginger of Team Porsche Holding. The Austrian driver currently holds second place with 137 points, putting him in the running to upset Bamber’s stellar season in the Porsche Carrera Cup.

Tied for third place overall are Alexandre Imperatori of PICC Team StarChase and Budweiser Team Absolute Racing’s Ho-Pin Tung, each with 118 points.

Hot on their heels and looking for a place on the podium is Team Jebsen’s Rodolfo Avila with just 4 points separating him from the duo in third place, ensuring that for Tung and Imperatori it will be no easy feat.

In Class B, podium placement may be reserved for drivers Alif Hamdan, Francis Tjia and Yuey Tan, but the spots they’ll occupy are far from decided.

It’s anyone’s championship to win at present, with Nexus Racing’s Hamdan in first with 151 points, followed by Tjia of OpenRoad Racing Team with 148 and Dorr Havelock Racing’s Yuey Tan with 146 points.

The margins separating all three drivers make it a series to be excited for as we head back into Shanghai for the home stretch of the 2014 season!
