Matejovsky fastest in second test

26.04.13
Once again, a Krenek Motorsport BMW 320si topped the timesheets in ETCC Testing at the Slovakiaring, so the honours are now shared between the two teammates.

This morning it was Petr Fulín who set the fastest time, but the afternoon’s one-hour session saw Michal Matějovský’s car set the quickest lap time of 2:16.547.

On paper, it was the SEAT León of Igor Skuz that was second fastest, but the time (2:17.717) was actually set by former SEAT Sport WTCC driver Jordi Gené, who had been asked to help the Campos Racing team set up the car for the Slovakia track. As a result, it was the BMW of Mat’o Homola (2:18.080) that was second fastest behind Matějovský, with Fulín - clearly happy with his morning’s work - electing not to take part in the session.
Behind the Super 2000 cars, Ferenc Ficza was the fastest of the Single-Make Trophy competitors with a lap time of 2:18.485, while the Ford Fiesta of Klaus Bingler (2:36.520) was the quickest entrant in Super 1600.

The session was red-flagged after around 16 minutes, when the Alfa Romeo 156 of Slovakia’s Filip Sládecka stopped on the circuit with mechanical failure and the resulting oil spill had to be cleared up. Several other drivers either spun or took to the gravel at various stages of the session, among them Nicolas Hamilton, Mikhail Maleev and Jordi Oriola in SMT SEAT León Supercópa cars and Dušan Borković in an S2000 SEAT.
Klaus Bingler set the fastest lap in S1600 class, from “Romeo Luciano” and Anton Zaitsev.

The Qualifying session is due to start at 14.45 CET on Saturday, with the two nine-lap races scheduled for 11.35 and 12.40 on Sunday.
