Solid Gold support for Road Safety at F1 season opener
The FIA's Action for Road Safety campaign received a ringing endorsement from the stars of Formula One at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.
Drivers from all teams contesting the 2012 FIA Formula One Championship posed for photographs on the grid at Melbourne's Albert Park circuit holding cards bearing the FIA's Golden Rules for safe driving, which feature ten key messages aimed at improving safety on the world's roads.
Defending world champion Sebastian Vettel was joined by five former title-winners - Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikonnen - as well as stars from each of the 12 teams to advocate on such issues as the eradication of drink and drug driving, mobile phone use while at the wheel, and the promotion of helmet use by motorcyclists and bike riders.
