The four FIA Girls on Track - Rising Stars Senior drivers taking part in the decisive Formula 4 Scouting Camp have now completed their final five-day training and assessment. FIA President, Jean Todt, was also a keen observer yesterday as the young women rounded out their intense programme at the world-famous Ferrari Driver Academy in Maranello, Italy.

Now, for the drivers vying to possibly become the second female to follow in Maya Weug’s footsteps by joining the Ferrari Driver Academy and potentially racing in Formula 4 for the Iron Dames - the project’s main partner - the crucial deliberations begin.

Armed with data and telemetry from all the on and off-track assessments, the Ferrari Driver Academy experts will now analyse the performance and progression of each of the four drivers ahead of a final decision that could have a life-changing impact on the career of one young racer.

“These past days will have shown the drivers the high level of commitment they need to take the next step up the racing ladder,” commented Michèle Mouton, President of the FIA Women in Motorsport Commission that launched the Girls on Track - Rising Stars programme with Ferrari in 2020. “To have reached this phase is a real achievement and I really hope we will see another young woman excel and be given an exceptional opportunity with the FDA and Iron Dames.”

This final week has been another demanding one for the youngsters who have undergone a relentless programme of physical and mental tests, communications, technical and simulator training ahead of two days of Pirelli-shod Formula 4 track time at Fiorano, where Maya Weug was charged with setting the reference lap. Whatever the outcome, all four drivers have had a significant insight into what it takes to become a professional racing driver and gain invaluable knowledge from the FDA experts who are dedicated to nurturing the careers of some of the sport’s youngest and most promising talent.

The announcement of the outcome of the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars FDA F4 Scouting Camp for the Senior drivers will follow the concluding phase of the parallel Junior programme. The FDA Karting Scouting Camp (November 24-30) takes the final four junior drivers to Maranello and the Franciacorta circuit, where just one driver could be selected to participate in an international karting season with the financial support of the Ferrari Driver Academy.
