FIA statement regarding FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship incident at Zandvoort

The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) regrets to advise that a serious incident occurred during the running of the FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship event at Zandvoort on Saturday, 2nd September.

Following the incident, the driver of car number 20, David Ferrer, was transferred to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

The FIA is providing support to the driver’s family, the event, and the relevant authorities, and has commenced an investigation into the incident.


Update – 07.09.17: The FIA regrets to advise that the driver David Ferrer has unfortunately succumbed to injuries sustained in the incident at Zandvoort. The FIA extends its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Mr Ferrer at this difficult time.
