Following a worldwide detection phase, the FIA has selected 14 talented young female drivers aged between 12 and 16 to attend the third edition of the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars Programme. Gathering next week at the Paul Ricard circuit, the girls will undertake an intensive assessment programme which could lead to exceptional motor sport career opportunities.

Launched in May this year, the third edition of the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars programme involved a worldwide talent search among the FIA’s national sporting authorities, each of which nominated promising young drivers with national or international racing experience. Following this initial phase, the FIA selected eight senior and six junior drivers, representing 12 countries, to continue the competition at the Circuit Paul Ricard, as part of the renowned Winfield Racing School.

The 14 girls will be welcomed and registered at Circuit Paul Ricard, on Wednesday 17, marking the start of four intense days of instruction, education, competition and scrutiny, both on and off track.

Among the activities on the programme, from 17 to 21 August are: physical and mental training, security and safety briefings, tyre management, driver nutrition, media training, simulator experiences and much more. Drivers will also take part in a number of on-track sessions which will be used to assess their performance and progress (in karting for the juniors and in F4 for the seniors).

All activities are supervised by the FIA and its partners: FDA, Iron Dames, Winfield Racing School, 321 perform, Pirelli, OMP, Kart Republic.

The expert jury at Le Castellet will choose four junior and four senior drivers to go forward to the final stage of the competition in November when the victorious 2022 drivers will at last be revealed.

The winning junior driver will participate in an international karting season with the potential financial support of the Ferrari Driver Academy. The selected senior driver will potentially become the third female to have the chance to join the Ferrari Driver Academy – following in the footsteps of Maya Weug and Laura Camps Torras, the winners of the first two editions– where she will begin development of a professional career in motor sport and compete in the Formula 4 Italian Championship with FIA Girls on Track’s main partner, the Iron Dames project.

FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars is part of the FIA's strong commitment to promote Diversity and Inclusion in Motorsport.
