African Rally Championship

Campeonato Africano FIA de Rally

SEASON 2022

Campeonato Africano FIA de Rally

Run for the first time in 1981, the FIA African Rally Championship (ARC) features an all-gravel calendar with events taking place against a backdrop of stunning landscapes across the continent’s Sub-Saharan region.

Thanks to the work and efforts of the involved ASNs and organisers, the ARC continues to prosper, despite the challenges presented by COVID-19.

Titles up for grabs

  • FIA ARC for Drivers and Co-Drivers in a car from any group
  • FIA ARC2 for Drivers and Co-Drivers in Group NR4 cars
  • FIA ARC3 for Drivers and Co-Drivers in Rally3 cars
  • FIA ARC4 for Drivers and Co-Drivers in Rally4 and Rally5 cars
  • FIA ARC Junior for Drivers 28 and under on January 1, 2022, entered in a car from any group

What’s new for 2022?

  • In addition to the category restructuring (see above), the two-pass reconnaissance format is back for 2022.
  • Cars are permitted to deviate from the centre line of the route to a tolerance of six metres, instead of 10 metres previously.
  • Only the fastest five drivers from the Qualifying Stage – rather than the previous 15 – take part in the selection of starting positions for the opening leg of an event.
