The fourth edition of the FIA University Senior Executive Programme was held in New York at Columbia University’s new Manhattanville Business School campus from 17 to 19 October 2022.

Over the course of this three-day tailor-made programme, 26 leaders of 17 FIA Member Clubs attended strategic courses on ‘Leadership and Negotiation Strategies’, ‘Qualitative Intuition’, ‘Quantitative Intuition - Leading in a Data-driven World’, and more. The programme aimed to equip participants with the necessary tools to respond to the crucial challenges they are facing today.

Classes were taught by expert Columbia University faculty who have authored several critically acclaimed books. Professor Robert Bontempo, a globally recognised leader on leadership and management strategies, named by BusinessWeek Magazine one of the top MBA professors in the US, kicked off the programme. Dr. Sheena S. Iyengar – world expert on choice and decision-making regularly cited in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and The Economist – closed the programme with her ground-breaking new course ‘Think Bigger’, designed to help spark creative thinking. She presented a six-step method based on lessons learned from neurological and cognitive science to put one’s mind to work and generate one’s best ideas.

Delegates also enjoyed a unique ‘Leadership Jazz’ discussion and concert inviting them to look at Jazz – an art form born of tension and conflict – as a leadership metaphor. Delegates reflected on how leadership lessons from a jazz ensemble can help teams and organisations work better together. Discussions about Clubs’ case studies allowed for pivotal exchange of experience and expertise between Delegates on challenges their Clubs are facing.
