A total of 39 cars are entered for the 2021 Rally de Asturias Historico, with a small contingent of EHRC eligible cars among them.

Category 4 championship leader Daniel Alonso Villaron will be looking to extend his overall lead in the no1 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth 4x4, with the Spaniard being joined in Asturias by Adrian Perez Fernandez.  The main opposition will be in the form of fellow Spanish crew Antonio Sainz Canamor and David De La Punete in the no4 Subaru Legacy Turbo 4WD, their first EHRC outing in 2021.

Category 3 leaders ‘Zippo’ and Denis Piceno will be looking to tighten their grip on the championship trophy with another category victory in the no2 Audi quattro to add to the four they have secured already in 2021.

Category 3 will also see the welcome return of Tim and Steve Jones, who will be making competing in Asturias in their Chrysler Sunbeam Ti 1.6.  Local crew Jesus Manuel Ferreiro Perez and Javier Anido Vazquez will also be competing in Category 3 in the no3 Ford Escort MK2 RS1800.

Category 2 will see the top two cars in the championship go head-to-head in Spain.  Lahti Historic Rally winners Ernie and Karen Graham (66 points) hold a small 4-point lead in the Category 2 title race and will once again be competing in the no5 Ford Escort RS1800.   

Rallye Weiz winners Paolo Pasutti and Giovanni Battista Campeis are currently on 62 points in the no6 Porsche 911 Carrera RS and will be looking to move ahead of the Ford with a strong performance in Spain.

James Potter and Michael Johnston will also be competing in Category 2 in the no7 Ford Escort MK1, with the category also seeing the distinctive VW Beetle 1300S of James Calvert and James O’Brien competing once again.

The 2021 Rally de Asturias Historico will be held over three days starting on Thursday 2 September and concluding on Saturday 4 September.
