With the "Super Opening Weekend" held at SAIC International Circuit on May 9 and headlined by the China Touring Car Championships (CTCC), the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of China (CAMF) opened this year’s motor sport season in the country.

With China's economy recovered from the results of the global health crisis, the country's motor sport scene is gaining momentum.

Organised by CAMF, the CTCC is China’s premier domestic motor sport series. In addition, TCR Asia/China Series, GT Super Sprint Challenge (GTSSC) with the newly created GT3/4 sprint race, and the well-known Porsche Carrera Cup Asia were all part of the bill, with over 60 cars and 70 drivers taking part in the meeting.

As the championship’s promoter, Li Sheng Sports has never relaxed on prevention and control of the COVID-19 measures in accordance with the local protocol as well as the Appendix S of the FIA International Sporting Code, while maintaining a high standard when running the event.

For this opening meeting, all participants including the working staff and the volunteers were required to have a negative PCR test result and were obliged to wear face masks at all times.

Although it was not open to the on-site spectators on the grandstands, the events were delivered by the promoter Li Sheng Sports through an exciting live broadcast and multiple channels online, gaining substantial traffic.

There is no doubt that Chinese motor sport has once again pressed the accelerator pedal for development.
