Following August’s season-opening round at Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic, the FIA European Truck Racing Championships head to the Hungaroring for round two, sharing the bill with the FIA World Touring Car Cup on this occasion.

The home of the Hungarian Gran Prix is set to welcome truck racing from October 17-18, with the drivers facing a challenge of taming 5300kg purpose-built race trucks around the 4.381-kilometre circuit, comprised of 14, relatively low-speed corners.

Local driver Norbert Kiss made an impressive start to the season in Most, topping the timesheets in timed practice sessions and both Super Poles to sign off the weekend with a victory and a podium finish.

Kiss was last victorious at his home race back in 2017 and will be looking for a repeat this weekend.

"The performance in Most was better than expected. The new Révész Truck Racing Team is great, we’ve really put in the hard work at the beginning of the year for it to turn out well, so I am really thankful to the team and to our founder Mr. Bálint Révész for starting this team.” he said.

Buggyra Zero Mileage racing driver Adam Lacko took his first victory and a podium in his home event in Most and will have his eyes on another top strong result.

The reigning double champion Jochen Hahn kicked off the 2020 season with two podiums at Most. While the six-time FIA ETRC title-winner was happy with his performance, he admitted that the team has got some work to do to catch the competition.

“The first race of the season is the moment when you know where you stand and how fast and strong the other drivers are. We know we have some work to do and will certainly put in the effort to come back on the top step," he said.

Team Schwabentruck’s Steffi Halm of Germany scored consistent results in the first round in the Czech Republic with two fifths and a sixth place while Frenchmen Anthony Janiec had mixed results at Most, with a retirement and a 10th place but improved his tally with a fifth place in the race on Sunday. The Lion Truck racing driver will be keen to better his performance this weekend in Hungary.

Spanish ETRC title-winner Antonio Albacete didn’t have the best of starts at in Most, where he struggled with set-up changes in his brand-new MAN truck.

The team have since had more track time as they took part in other races, which has given them the chance to continue to optimise the set-up but also to test some changes that they made to the brake system after the season opener in Most. This weekend Albacete will be looking to get back into the mix for the podium.

The weekend will traditionally feature four races, two of which will be semi-reversed grids.
