UN Environment with FIA Region IV and its Clubs have produced a series of statistical assessments of electric mobility in Latin American cities.

With various governments in Latin America announcing incentives for the manufacture and import of electric cars, in particular by reducing and eliminating tariffs and internal taxes, the region has started to view public transport as an ecological mobility solution thanks to the cost-beneficial renewal of bus and taxi fleets.

To further support and promote this shift from fuel-driven public transport to electric public transport, FIA Region IV and UN Environment have created a set of sustainable mobility assessment sheets.

These sheets will help advance the discussion among cities and ministries on the potential benefits of a transition to electric mobility in urban public transport.

The statistics were gathered with the support of FIA Region IV Clubs, national partners and experts from Latin America.

These evaluations will be updated periodically as additional information is obtained from cities, the number of cities analysed is expanded, and the market in the region evolves.

The full electric mobility assessment sheets for 22 cities in 12 countries in Latin America, as well as an interactive map are available here: http://movelatam.org/city-assessments/
