Last weekend the FIA held its largest and most successful rally sporting and safety seminar with 173 participants from 38 countries convening in Dublin, Ireland.

Organised in association with the Royal Irish Automobile Club, the focus of the seminar was to raise safety standards while encouraging the sport at grassroots level. One of the biggest common challenges remains how to keep the sport affordable and accessible without compromising safety, which remains the top priority at all levels.

The seminar brought together a wealth of experience across many facets of the sport with sessions focusing on the duties of the Clerks of the Courses, promotion, safety and safety planning, marshal training and medical requirements. Technical scrutineering and safety equipment checks were also covered by the FIA Technical department, as was the importance of the interaction between the Clerk of the Course and the event stewards.

Guests from the FIA World Rally Championship were also in attendance, including Team Principal of the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team and current FIA World Rally Champion for Manufacturers, Malcolm Wilson OBE, and Irish Citroën Total Abu Dhabi World Rally Team driver Craig Breen.
