International Court of Appeal - Decision - Hearing 9 June, 2016

The following hearing of the International Court of Appeal took place in Paris on Thursday 9 June 2016:

 

Appeal lodged by the Automobile Club d’Italia–Commissione Sportiva Automobilistica Italiana (ACI-CSAI) on behalf of its licence-holder Honda Racing Team Jas against Decisions No. 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 dated 26 May 2016 of the Stewards of the Race of Germany related to the Races of Hungary and Morocco counting towards the 2016 FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC)

 

On 27 May 2016, Honda Racing Team Jas decided to appeal the decisions number 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 taken by the Stewards of the 2016 FIA WTCC Race of Germany, on the basis of two reports from the Technical Delegate concerning the non-conformity of cars 5, 12 and 18 during the Races of Hungary and Morocco.

 

Decision of the International Court of Appeal

 

The Court, after having heard the parties and examined their submissions,

-        declared the appeal admissible;

-        decided to set aside the decisions No. 1, 3 and 5 dated 26 May 2016 of the Stewards of the Race of Germany related to the Race of Hungary counting towards the 2016 FIA World Touring Car Championship;

-        decided to uphold the decisions No. 6, 7 and 8 dated 26 May 2016 of the Stewards of the Race of Germany related to the Race of Morocco counting towards the 2016 FIA World Touring Car Championship.

 

The International Court of Appeal was presided over by Mr Thierry JULLIARD (Switzerland), and included Mr Didier BOLLECKER (France), Mr Michael GRECH (Malta) and Mr Jan STOVICEK (Czech Republic).
