European Rally Trophy
European Rally Trophy
The European Rally Trophy (ERT), is made up of a total of eight regional competitions which follow broadly the same technical and sporting regulations as the European Rally Championship. Three categories are contested in each event – the main ERT class comprising of eligible R5 and S2000 machinery, ERT 2 for eligible Group N cars and ERT 3 for eligible 2WD Group R, Group A and Group N cars, plus Super 1600 and Group A kit cars. There is also an ERT Junior class for competitors born on or after 1 January 1990.
There is an added local twist to the ERT events, however, as nationally homologated cars may participate in countries where the car is homologated, although they are not eligible to score Trophy points.
Regulations allow for up to eight rallies per region, with a maximum of three taking place in a single country each season. This gives plenty of scope for talented drivers to showcase their skills, and there is more than just regional glory on offer for the very best. The top five drivers in each of the four categories (ERT, ERT 2, ERT 3 and ERT Junior), will qualify to compete in the Rally Trophy Final, which in 2017 takes place in November on Rali Casinos do Algarve in Portugal. This is a no-holds-barred fight for outright ERT glory, and provides some of the most exciting rallying action on the calendar.
