To promote road safety for all and raise awareness of simple safety rules allowing to save lives on the road, the FIA Region IV participated in two training sessions dedicated to the female public.

The first one was held at the Autódromo de Buenos Aires in collaboration with Honda Motors Argentina and the Government of the City of Buenos Aires. During this training, the FIA Region IV presented a report on the statistics at the regional level and on the different campaigns and initiatives carried out to promote a safer motorcycle culture, such as the safe and affordable helmets campaign. The importance of the use of an appropriate helmet was highlighted, and the elements to take into account when choosing one were explained.

The second training took place as part of the Safe Driving Day for Women organised by “Mujeres al Volante” and the Government of the City of Buenos Aires. At this event, the FIA Region IV presented the safe driving principles and techniques. The session touched upon different common problems arising in daily practice based on the study of witness cases. FIA Region IV trainers also guided a trial of slalom manoeuvres and emergency braking.

The day was completed with the training delivered by “Mujeres al Volante” and the City of Buenos Aires on risk factors such as alcohol consumption. With the participation of an insurance company, La Caja de Ahorro y Seguro, different topics were also discussed including documentation, insurance, phobia of driving, gender and mobility, active and passive safety, and preventive inspection and ergonomics. Finally, the Red Cross carried out two trainings: one on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and one on ‘how to act in a road crash’.
