EHRC - Introducing the 33rd Rally Elba Storico
Round 7 of the 2021 FIA European Historic Rally Championship will be held in Italy with the 33rd edition of the Rally Elba Storico being the host event (23-25 September). The island of Elba is the third largest island in Italy after Sicily and Sardinia and is located in the Tyrrhenian Sea, 50 kilometres east of the French island of Corsica.
SCHEDULE
The ceremonial start will take place at Viale Australia in Capoliveri on Thursday 23 September from 20h00.
Leg 1 will consist of four special stages, with SS 1 (Innamorata-Capoliveri) starting at 21h24 on Thursday evening following the ceremonial start. Three further stages will follow on Friday 24 September. Leg 1 will conclude at 17h15.
Leg 2 will also feature five special stages, with SS5 (Duo Mari) starting at 09h18 on Saturday 25 September.
The podium ceremony will take place at Viale Australia in Capolivieri after the finish from 17h00

ABOUT ELBA
Elba is a Mediterranean island in Tuscany, 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) from the coastal town of Pionbino. The island is part of the province of Livorno and is divided into seven municipalities, of which Capoliveri is one, with a total population of about 30,000 inhabitants which increases considerably during the summer.
Elba was well known in ancient times for its iron resources and valued mines. Appollonius of Rhodes mentions the island in his epic poem Argonautica, describing that the Argonauts rested there during their travels.
The island was invaded by the Etruscans and later the Romans. During the Middle Ages it became the possession of several city republics including Pisa and Genova. In the 18thcentury the British landed troops in the island to protect French royalists and was transferred to France in the Peace of Amiens in 1802.
In 1814, Emperor Napoleon was exiled to Elba but escaped ten months later in 1815. After being restored to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, Elba became part of the new unified Kingdom of Italy in 1860.
Elba has more recently become famed for its wine and as a tourist destination.
Capoliveri is a commune on the island and has a population of just over 4000 people.
Capoliveri is a medieval town standing on the top of a hill overlooking the sea, with a fine view of most of the island’s southern coast, is one of Elba’s most popular, best-known holiday destinations. The town, with its square and Via Roma in its centre, consists of a network of narrow streets and flights of steps, often passing underneath archways and lined with flower-laden balconies.
