With the 2020 Giro d'Italia, the road safety campaign #rispettiamoci - already protagonist of last year's Giro - restarted, to make cyclists and motorists aware of mutual respect and safe driving behaviour and practices.

This particular edition of the race - a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic – has led Automobile Club d'Italia (ACI) and Giro d'Italia to create an all-digital initiative that, thanks to the availability of the Giro portal, will be able to reach millions of fans.

For the occasion, ACI has produced 12 60" video pills - made at the ACI-SARA Safe Driving Centre in Vallelunga - with the precious advice of the Centre's instructors.

Six pills are tutorials dedicated to the best practices to be carried out in the most dangerous situations that can happen between bikes and cars.

In the other six pills, the Olympian Massimiliano Rosolino and the journalist Metis Di Meo underline the culture of respect on the road and tell the right spirit that should animate motorists and cyclists when sharing the road, to help increase safety levels for everyone.

"We have to thank RCS and the organization of the Giro d'Italia for the great sensitivity to road safety - says Angelo Sticchi Damiani, President of the Automobile Club d'Italia - which has allowed us to continue our partnership. The positive and constant increase in the daily use of bicycles - continues Sticchi Damiani - makes it of paramount importance to remind each of us that driving requires respect for others, responsibility and constant attention, especially towards cyclists, pedestrians and the disabled who are the most vulnerable users".

"The Giro d'Italia is honoured to host ACI and its safety initiatives - says Paolo Bellino, CEO and General Manager of RCS Sport. The Giro is an extraordinary competition but it is also a fabulous event for millions of Italians who follow cycling with passion. Enriching this event with a culture of respect on the road to reduce accidents - continues Bellino - is felt by all of us as a duty towards the many who get on their bikes every day and an opportunity to increase interest and passion for pedals".

The #rispettiamoci campaign will accompany the entire route of the Giro and will continue at its end, through the web presence of ACI, while waiting for Giro 2021.
