The promoter of the FIA Formula 1 French Grand Prix has acknowledged that the 2020 edition of the event cannot take place following the instructions of the French government. The full statement can be found below: 

The Formula 1 Grand Prix de France takes note of the impossibility to maintain its event

Following the declarations of the French President to ban major events until at least the middle of July, to keep the Schengen area closed until further notice and the recent decisions announced by the French Government to fight against the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the GIP Grand Prix de France - Le Castellet takes note of the impossibility to maintain the Formula 1 Grand Prix de France on June 28, 2020.

The health and safety of its spectators, partners and all those involved in Formula 1 is a priority. The GIP Grand Prix de France - Le Castellet supports the decisions taken by the French Government.

The Formula 1 Grand Prix de France would like to thank its clients, all the administrators of its GIP, the Circuit Paul Ricard, all its partners and the companies working towards the organisation of this event.

Eric Boullier, Managing Director of the GIP Grand Prix de France - Le Castellet: "Given the evolution of the situation linked to the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the French Grand Prix takes note of the decisions announced by the French State making it impossible to maintain our event. The eyes of the GIP Grand Prix de France - Le Castellet are already turning towards the summer of 2021 in order to offer our spectators an even more unprecedented event at the heart of the Région Sud.”

Chase Carey, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Formula 1: " We have been in close contact with the French promoter during this evolving situation and while it is disappointing for our fans and the F1 community that the French Grand Prix will not take place we fully support the decision taken by the French authorities in France and look forward to being back at Paul Ricard soon.”

For all France 2020 Grand Prix ticket holders, the reimbursement terms will be made available soon on the website www.gpfrance.com. The GIP Grand Prix de France - Le Castellet shares the disappointment of the spectators who had booked their seats for this edition and is committed to facilitating the reimbursement of each ticket and associated services available for purchase on its site (i.e. camping, shuttle, parking).

En raison des déclarations du Président de la République Française visant à interdire les grands événements jusqu’au milieu du mois de juillet au minimum et à maintenir la fermeture de l’espace Schengen jusqu’à nouvel ordre, et des récentes décisions annoncées par le Gouvernement Français afin de lutter contre la propagation du virus Covid-19, le GIP Grand Prix de France - Le Castellet prend acte de l’impossibilité de maintenir le Grand Prix de France de Formule 1 du 28 juin prochain.

La santé et la sécurité de ses spectateurs, de ses partenaires et de l’ensemble des acteurs de la Formule 1 est une priorité. Le GIP Grand Prix de France – Le Castellet soutient les décisions prises par le Gouvernement Français.

Le Grand Prix de France de Formule 1 tient à remercier ses clients,  l’ensemble des administrateurs de son GIP, le Circuit Paul Ricard, l’ensemble de ses partenaires et des entreprises l’accompagnant dans l’organisation de cet évènement.

Pour tous les détenteurs de billets du Grand Prix de France 2020, les modalités de remboursement seront précisées prochainement sur le site www.gpfrance.com. Le GIP Grand Prix de France – Le Castellet partage la déception des spectateurs qui avaient réservé leurs places pour cette édition et s’engage à faciliter le remboursement de chaque billet ainsi que des services annexes commercialisés sur son site (i.e camping, navette, parking).
