Motor sport’s top GT drivers to gather once again in Macau for this year’s ultimate showdown

Entries for the 2018 edition of the FIA GT World Cup are now open. The premier GT race on the international calendar will take place from 16-18 November on the iconic Guia Circuit in Macau.

The event represents the pinnacle of GT racing, and is open only to manufacturers and drivers with Gold or Platinum categorisation, and the race format will remain the unchanged from previous years, with two 30-minute practice sessions, a 30-minute qualifying session, 12-lap (or 60-minute) Qualifying Race, and the Main Race of 18 laps (or 75 minutes).

Racing in Macau has a long and illustrious history stretching back to 1954, and 2018 marks the fourth time that the world’s top GT drivers and manufacturers have gathered to do battle for an FIA World Cup.

Each race has provided a great number of memorable moments – from Maro Engel’s inaugural win in 2015, to the 2016 victory for Laurens Vanthoor, who won despite ending up on his roof, and last year’s triumph for Edoardo Mortara in a race where the top three were covered by just 1.5 seconds – the challenges of the 6.2-kilometre (3.8-mile) Guia street circuit never fail to thrill motor sport fans around the world.

The entry process will close on 31 August, at which time the FIA will publish the list of competitors for the 2018 FIA GT World Cup.
