FIA President Jean Todt, who also serves as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety said “I am really happy that our campaign can benefit from such a great visibility on the Paris City Hall, one of the capital’s most iconic landmarks. With city dwellers and tourists passing by, it will help spread the road safety message to a large audience.”

Launched in March 2017, the #3500LIVES campaign is the first worldwide outdoor campaign on road safety produced by the FIA, in partnership with world number one outdoor advertising company JCDecaux. Since its launch, the campaign has been translated into more than 30 languages and displayed in 80 countries around the globe reaching over 1.5 billion people.

Supported by 14 celebrities, the campaign aims to raise awareness on the 3500 people who die on the world’s roads every day and prompts all road users to adopt easily applicable and efficient rules to tackle the road safety challenge.

Campaign Ambassadors include athletes such as Antoine Griezmann, Rafael Nadal, Yohan Blake, Haile Gebrselassie, Vanessa Low and Wayde van Niekerk; drivers like Fernando Alonso, Marc Márquez, Felipe Massa and Nico Rosberg; artists like Pharrell Williams, Michael Fassbender and Michelle Yeoh; and politicians like Anne Hidalgo.

Mayor Anne Hidalgo, who is also a Member of the FIA High Level Panel for Road Safety, said: “Every day, 3 500 people are killed on the roads. We need to act and to raise awareness. Our citizens’ lives and their future are at stake. This FIA campaign is therefore essential. I am proud that Paris participates in promoting it.”
