On 2 February, FIA President Jean Todt along with Alejandro Quintana Hurtado, President of Automóvil Club de Chile (ACCHI), José Abed, FIA Vice-President for Sport and Formula E drivers Lucas Di Grassi and José Maria Lopez supported the #3500LIVES Road Safety campaign at Santiago ePrix.

Together they visited the ACCHI stand in the heart of the eVillage, promoting the importance of road safety to fans attending the FIA Formula E Championship event. Featuring 14 ambassadors from the sport, music and film industries, the #3500LIVES campaign aims to raise awareness on the 3500 people who die on the world’s roads every day and promotes universal safety rules to save lives on the road.

“Motorisation has increased in Chile in the past 15 years. Even if the road fatality rate has remained relatively stable, pedestrian safety is a particular concern in this country.  An event like Santiago ePrix provides a perfect occasion to reach the general public and spread the road safety message through the #3500LIVES campaign.”, said FIA President.

On the stand, fans had the opportunity to take their own #3500LIVES picture and to familiarise with the Golden Rules through a pedagogical game. They could also learn more about electric mobility.
