On 12 July, Londoners had the opportunity to participate in a Formula One event in the centre of London. The event, entitled ‘F1 Live London’ which announces the next British Grand Prix, aims to create a free-to-see London F1 experience around Trafalgar Square, bringing the excitement of the sport to the capital, with supporting activations around science, education and learning, and a big entertainment show

F1 enthusiasts were able to learn about the F1 in Schools Programme and how F1 encourages careers in engineering, science, marketing and technology, before hearing from the teams and attending the parade of F1 cars on Whitehall.

Fans were also invited to discover the #3500LIVES road safety campaign on the FIA stand at the event. This campaign, featuring 13 celebrities from sport, music and film industries, aims to raise awareness on the number of people who die on the world’s roads every day and promotes simple safety rules: the FIA’s Golden Rules for Safer Motoring. On the stand, a special emphasis was put on the ‘don’t text and drive’ rule, embodied by singer, song writer and record producer Pharrell Williams and the ‘never drink and drive’ rule, embodied by 2016 FIA Formula One World Champion Nico Rosberg — 2 rules which are very important, especially for young people who are among the most vulnerable road users.
