Environmental Accreditation

Environmental Accreditation

The FIA Environmental Accreditation Programme is aimed at helping motor sport stakeholders worldwide to measure and enhance their environmental performance. It introduces clear and consistent environmental management into motor sport and provides stakeholders with a framework against which to accredit their activities.

To achieve this aim, the FIA has launched a set of guidelines and documents based on internationally recognised environmental standards and guidelines.

Environmental Accreditation – Best Practice Framework

A management tool that helps motor racing’s National Sporting Authorities (ASNs), teams, circuits, manufacturers and promoters to improve their environmental performance. This document provides you best practice guidance.

Environmental Accreditation – Guidelines

A document to assist stakeholders to understand the requirements involved in achieving the three accreditation levels of the Environmental Certification Framework.

Effective 5 June 2018, the certification levels are the following:

  • One-Star certification: Basic practice (typical national stakeholders hosting national championships, ASNs and venues, driven mainly on voluntary basis) – Access to the entry-level has been simplified and is now FREE OF CHARGE
  • Two-Star certification: Good practice (typical regional stakeholders and ASNs hosting regional championships, or a first step approach for the top level application)
  • Three-Star certification: Best practice (typical manufacturer team, World Championship organisers and promoters, major venues and ASNs)

Environmental Accreditation - Checklist

A checklist that provides a step by step approach to assist stakeholders with the implementation of the Accreditation Guidelines (with guidance for each of the levels highlighted above).

Carbon Offset Guidance Document

A module enabling stakeholders to calculate their carbon footprint, manage improvements, compensate emissions and achieve carbon neutrality as part of a wider set of environmental actions.
