Hernan Gallegos Banderas has been involved with the Automobile Club of Ecuador (ANETA) for over 30 years, having served as President of the Sports Commission from 1987 to 1988 and Vice President of the National Directorate from 1990 to 2005. He was elected President of the National Directorate in 2005 for a term continuing to 2011.
He also has a long career background in automotive sales and trade. Having graduated with a mechanical engineering degree, Banderas went on to serve as President of Gallegos Industrias Metalicas, a company dedicated to manufacturing metal bodies for buses. In 1989, he became General Manager of the Corporación Auto Motores, an authorised dealer of Ford vehicles. By 1990, he was General Manager of Compañía Gallegos, also a Ford dealer, a position he held until 1996.
A year later, Banderas took on the role of Chairman of Auto Pichincha Importadora, an auto trading company. He has been General Manager of a real estate design and construction firm, Inmobiliaria Gala, since 1998, and in 2000 he became General Manager of Alfa Pi Internacional, a company dedicated to the import and sale of stone crushing and mining machinery.
