VOLKSWAGEN CONTINUES TO SUPPORT WOMEN IN MOTOR SPORT

Following the successful inaugural year of partnership between Volkswagen Motorsport and the FIA’s Women in Motorsport Commission, the search for a new female talent to compete in the 2012 Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup has begun.

The FIA is pleased to announce that the South Korean tyre manufacturer, Hankook Tire, will become the official tyre supplier for the 2013 Junior WRC Championship.

The 2013 FIA World Touring Car Championship proved to be in excellent shape, as twenty-five cars have been entered by fifteen teams in the WTCC season opener that takes place at Monza, Italy, on March 24.

The entry list features model cars built by five different car Manufacturers: BMW (8), SEAT (7), Chevrolet (5), Honda (3) and LADA (2).

The FIA Formula 3 European Championship has attracted a fully subscribed entry with 30 cars representing 12 teams. These young motor sport hopefuls will go head-to-head all over Europe in the 10 events on the calendar with three races per meeting. And the reward? A test in a Scuderia Ferrari F1 car, but above all the determination to make the most of this opportunity to show off their talent in a field that combines both quality and quantity.

With new names joining the line-up for the 2013 FIA F3 European Championship on an almost daily basis, the combined efforts of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and the Ferrari Driver Academy will give the 2013 champion the opportunity to test drive a Formula 1 car at the end of the season.

There will be Serious Competition Ahead in the FIA European Rally Championship during the month of September when three rounds take place over an exciting five-week period.

Super September will consist of the ERC rallies in Czech Republic, Poland and Croatia and is the result of a request by the Croatian motorsport federation to switch its event from an original June slot to September to coincide with the country hosting a meeting of the FIA’s World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) at the end of that month.

Adjustments to the regulations for the FIA European Rallycross Championship

The World Motor Sport Council has today approved a series of adjustments to the sporting regulations of the 2013 FIA European Rallycross Championship.

The changes have been made in line with proposals made by the Off-Road Commission at its meeting on 31 January.

Following the meeting held on Wednesday 6 February in Paris, the CIK-FIA Commission, bringing together its various member countries, finalised the following calendar, which includes several changes to the previous version. The Asia-Pacific Championship will be contested over two events in the KF category and divided between Suzuka and Macao for the KZ and KF-Junior categories. Following a fax vote, the Superkart calendar will be spread over four events instead of three, with the addition of the Dutch event, which will be held from 2 to 4 August at the Assen circuit.
