FIA, Motorsport, Mobility, Road Safety, F1, WRC, WEC, WTCC, World RX

Present:
Alessandro Mariani, Honda, first position
Yves Matton, Citroën, second position
Max Maximenko, LADA, third position

Q:
You didn’t quite win WTCC MAC3 but a Citroën C-Elysée WTCC will start Sunday’s Main Race on the DHL Pole Position. How pleased are you with that performance?

YM:
For sure we were quite happy during all the qualification and the free practice. We expected to have Yvan in the end in a better place. But we did the pole position and that’s the main thing.

Q:
Based on your performances today, what are your expectations for tomorrow’s races?

YM:
After two times we go to Termas for the moment we won all the races and for sure we will try to do the same. But it will much more difficult tomorrow. I hope that Yvan could do something good and maybe win an event. We will see with Pechito because for sure his starting position will help.

Q:
Turning to Alessandro Mariani following Honda’s victory in WTCC MAC3. You must be very satisfied, right?

AM:
I’m pretty happy because we knew before that the track was not an advantage for our car looking at the previous experience in the past. But the set-up we working since the beginning of the season since the beginning so we could work on the small details. I am really happy about the performance of Norbi, even if Rob was out by a few hundredths of the top five. Norbi did a very good job in Q3, made a very good lap time improving on Q2, which is not easy generally. I am really happy of that. In WTCC MAC3 I am very happy to beat my friend [Yves Matton] by a small gap because it was satisfaction. For tomorrow we are positive because we have the car in a strong shape in the first part of the grid. Citroën are very strong with their drivers so it will be a tough fight tomorrow.

Q:
It’s fair to say it hasn’t been the best day for LADA based on recent performances. What happened to the team today?

MM:
Unfortunately, somebody has to be unhappy on this table today and it’s LADA. The performance was not good today. We changed the engine of Gabriele before qualifying because something wasn’t good. Now we need to find the problem and try to do something right for tomorrow.
