The official entry list for the first ‘flyaway’ event of the year, the seventh round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship at Trois-Rivieres in Canada (6-7 August) has been released by the FIA.
FIA, Motorsport, Mobility, Road Safety, F1, WRC, WEC, WTCC, World RX

Norway’s Petter Solberg heads to the event he won two years ago five points behind championship leader, Sweden’s Mattias Ekstrom, who has never won a World RX event outside Europe. In the most recent rounds of World RX in Norway and Canada it has been Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud who has been the big mover, and has moved up to third in the drivers’ championship with a pair of victories.

On top of the regular permanent teams and drivers entered for the Canadian round, Sweden’s Sebastian Eriksson is entered in an Olsbergs MSE-built Honda Civic Supercar. The Swedish team has been racing the new car in the American-based GRC this season and is now in the process of getting the Civic added to the list of non-homolgated cars approved for use in rallycross so that Eriksson can give the car its World Championship debut at Trois-Rivieres. Liam Doran features on the entry list but won’t start in the event, following a split with JRM World Rallycross Team on Monday.

The standalone RX Lites Intercontinental Cup supports the World RX event in Canada. The 2015 winner Oliver Eriksson will return in a bid to retain his crown, as will home driver Andrew Ranger, who scored a podium finish on his debut last year. Another former RX Lites Cup winner, Mitchell DeJong will also return to the series. Finland’s Miki Weckstrom, Sweden’s Sandra Hultgren and America’s Cole Keatts also feature. Dirtfish Motorsports will run a car for Connor Martell and Saeed Bintouq will travel from the UAE for the event.
