KF1 World Vice-Champion and winner of four races of the last round in Macau in 2012, the English driver Tom Joyner is fast, combative and discreet, and never shows himself as well as he does at special occasions. At 21, this endearing driver has had a big international success which should enable him to continue with his career in karting in good condition.

"I really didn't think the world title arriving in Bahrain. At the Chiesa Corse team, we just did our best to be in the game. At the first event in PFI, I had good races, but I encountered a problem with the front brakes while I was second in the final and I had to drop down to 12th position.

"In Bahrain, I was performing well throughout the meeting, except for a small set-up error in qualifying which put me 13th. I could then move up in the heats and finished second in the prefinal. In the final, I had not planned to overtake Max Verstappen, also part of the Tinini Group. I stayed behind him in the early laps, but he was very slow, so I had to overtake. Only when in the lead, I thought about winning the race. I must admit that I did not realize at the time that I was World Champion. I realized later. It is very satisfying!

"When I raced in the British Championship, I dreamed of being able to compete in international races, but it was not easy for my family who dont have deep pockets. 2012 was a good season, things were more complicated in 2013 as I hadn't got very good results so far. Winning the KF World Championship is the best reward I could hope for to continue in high-level karting."
