WARNING / WITHDRAWAL OF FIA-APPROVED SAFETY EQUIPMENT

Overalls – Post-homologation Controls

During a random quality control of products certified to the FIA standard 8856-2000 “Protective Clothing for Automobile Drivers Homologated According to the FIA Standard 8856-2000”, certain clothing was found to be non-compliant with the standard. As a consequence the following clothing, whatever the validity deadline, is withdrawn from Technical List 27with immediate effect:

Manufacturer: Power On Racewear
Homologation Number:  RS.218.12
Commercial name: PRO POWER 3

The information referenced above can be found in the Technical List 27 in Appendix 1.

For safety reasons these racing suits can no longer be considered as complying with FIA standard 8856-2000.  As a consequence, use of these racing suits is prohibited in all cases in which compliance with the above standard is mandatory.

Non-approved Underwear, shoes, gloves and balaclavas

In addition several products (underwear shoes, gloves and balaclavas, together “Products”)) have been identified bearing  a label stating  “IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE FIA STANDARD 8856-2000”, whereas in reality those Products have not been approved by the FIA.  As a consequence, the use of these Products is prohibited in all cases in which use of homologated Products is mandatory.  Interested parties are invited to contact the FIA if they identify any further Products or problems of a similar nature.

More detail about those Poducts and how they can be identified can be found in the informative note in Appendix 2.

Please note that a complete and up-to-date list of all FIA homologated safety equipment may at any time be accessed on the FIA website: http://www.fia.com/sport/homologation.
