DID YOU KNOW?

2016 will be the fifth edition of the WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and the 7km circuit has produced some great on track action since that first race in 2012.   Here are some facts and figures from the previous seasons. 

  • Overall the top speed recorded in 2015 was 319.5kph compared to 311.2 kph in 2014, 308.6kph in 2013 and 302kph in 2012. 
  • The fastest lap recorded during the weekend was set by Timo Bernhard in the no17 Porsche 919 hybrid with a 1m54.755 in qualifying in 2015, this compares to the 1m58.934 lap set by Lucas Di Grassi in the Audi R18 in 2013.
  • Audi have won in Belgium three times (2012, 2013 and 2015), with Toyota winning in 2014.    
  • The last overall win for Porsche at the 1000km race at Spa was in 1984.  Stefan Bellof and Derek Bell won the World Endurance Championship event in the Porsche 956B in a time of 5 hours, 53 minutes. 
  • Aston Martin won both LMGTE Pro and LMGTE Am in 2015, breaking the Ferrari and Porsche hold on the winner’s trophy.

The winning Audi completed 176 laps in 2015, five more than the winning Toyota in 2014.  The race distance increased by 35km / 17.46 miles
