WEC - Toyota finish on top in final practice session in Japan

Toyota Gazoo Racing headed the timesheets on the final Free Practice session at Fuji Speedway ahead of this afternoon’s qualifying session.  Kazuki Nakajima posted a 1m24.78 lap in the no5 Toyota TS050 Hybrid, just four thousandths of a second slower than the best time set in Free Practice 2 by Mark Webber in the no1 Porsche 919.  The no8 Audi R18 was second quickest in FP3,  with Lucas Di Grassi just 0.422 behind the lead Toyota and 0.058s ahead of the no2 Porsche 919 of Neel Jani.

The no13 Rebellion Racing R-One was once again the quicker of the two LMP1 Privateer class cars, while the no26 G-Drive Racing Oreca headed the LMP2 class with Will Stevens setting the quickest time of the weekend so far with a 1m31.474 lap.  The no30 Extreme Speed Motorsports Ligier of Antonio Giovinazzi was second fastest ahead of the no42 Strakka Racing Gibson and the no31 ESM Ligier.

Ford continued to dominate the LMGTE PRO class with the no67 Ford GT of Andy Priaulx setting a 1m38.092, four tenths ahead of the no95 Aston Martin Vantage of Marco Sorensen and the no66 Ford GT of Stefan Mucke, both drivers setting a 1m38.500 lap.

Aston Martin held the top spot for the second time in LMGTE AM with Pedro Lamy putting the no98 Vantage at the top of the class with 1m39.492, 0.6 seconds ahead of Ben Barker in the no86 Gulf Racing Porsche and nearly a second ahead of the no83 AF Corse Ferrari driven by Emmanuel Collard.

Qualifying for the 6 Hours of Fuji, Round 7 of the FIA World Endurance Championship, will get underway at 14h00 (local) this afternoon.
