WEC - Audi confirm pace in night practice

After posting the fastest time in FP1, the no8 Audi R18 confirmed its pace under the floodlights with Loic Duval posting the fastest time of the day with a 1m47.235 lap, 0.095s faster than the no7 Audi of Andre Lotterer, the German setting a 1m47.330.  The two Porsche 919s were third and fourth fastest with the no1 919 of Brendon posting a 1m47.959, 0.7 seconds behind the lead Audi.  The two Toyotas were 5th and 6th with Sebastien Buemi in the no5 TS050 the quicker of the two cars.  The no4 Bykolles Team CLM-AER was the quickest of the two LMP1 privateers.

LMP2 Championship leaders Signatech Alpine posted the fastest class lap of the day with American Gustavo Menezes setting a 1m56.318 lap, besting the fastest lap in FP1 by 0.6 seconds.  6 Hours of Mexico race winners in the no43 RGR Sport Ligier were second quickest with Bruno Senna setting a 1m56.534 lap time, with the no26 G Drive Racing Oreca finishing the 90 minute session in 3rd.

In LMGTE Pro it was no66 Ford which was once again at the top of the time sheets.  Stefan Mucke’s lap of 2m04.714 was over 0.7 seconds quicker than his best lap in FP1.  The no95 Aston Martin Racing Vantage was second fastest with Nicki Thiim posting a 2m05.496, just ahead of the no67 Ford GT of Andy Priaulx.

In LMGTE Am it was the turn of the no98 Aston Martin to top the timing screens with Pedro Lamy setting a 2m06.092, three tenths ahead of the no86 Gulf Racing Porsche of Ben Barker and the no83 AF Corse Ferrari of Rui Aguas.

The final Free Practice session will take place tomorrow morning at 10h30 with qualifying for the 6 Hours of CoTA due to start at 17h45 with the LMGTE classes first on track.
