Use of new S2000 car components not mandatory in FIA ERC

The FIA and the ERC promoter, Eurosport Events are going to great lengths to reduce the cost of competing in the flagship regional contest.

Following last month’s FIA World Motor Sport Council meeting in the United Kingdom where it was agreed that it would not be mandatory for WRC Team and WRC 2 entrants to use latest ‘joker’ parts on rounds of the World Rally Championship to limit financial spend, Eurosport Events is pleased to confirm that such an allowance is already in place for the ERC.

Indeed, from the start of this season, competitors are no longer required to use the latest update components for Super 2000-level rally cars on all rounds of the championship to save costs. Previously, using latest-specification parts had been mandatory and the failure to do so would have resulted in penalties being applied.

The 2013 FIA ERC will resume on the Sibiu Rally in Romania from 25-27 July.
