03.05.14
Toyota Racing’s No.8 TS040 Hybrid – driven by Anthony Davidson, Sébastien Buemi and Nicolas Lapierre – took its second consecutive victory in the 2014 FIA WEC with victory today in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
Second place went to the No.1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro which was chased home to the finish by the No.7 Toyota to complete an excellent day for the Japanese manufacturer.

When dramas befell both the KCMG and No.27 SMP Racing entries earlier in the race, it was a clear run to victory for the No.26 G-Drive Racing Morgan Nissan of Olivier Pla, Julien Canal and Roman Rusinov – also winners at the previous round at Silverstone. The Franco/Russian entry was followed home by the No.38 JOTA Sport Zytek Z11SN Nissan and the No.37 KCMG ORECA 03 Nissan.

Ferrari took victory in both the LMGTE Pro and Am classes, the No.51 AF Corse 458 Italia of Gianmaria Bruni repeating his 2013 victory but this year with Toni Vilander alongside him.  The pair had a flawless race and finished ahead of the No.91 Porsche Team Manthey 911 RSR and AF Corse’s second Pro entry, the No.71 Ferrari.

The finishing order in the LMGTE Am category changed in the final minutes of the race but victory belonged firmly with the No.61 AF Corse Ferrari 458 of Marco Cioci, Luis Perez-Companc and Mirko Venturi.  Aston Martin Racing filled the second and third places on the podium but it was the No.95 Vantage V8 which was on the higher step as the No.98 Bamboo-backed car had to make a splash and dash in the dying moments of the race.

More than 46,000 fans enjoyed superb action on and off the track over the two-day meeting, and today’s sunshine and clear skies added to the enjoyment of a race full of tension right to the chequered flag.
